How To Find Hidden Treasure

By Steven Gillman Where can you find hidden treasure? Almost anywhere. How can you find it? Here are some new ideas on that. I was once involved in tearing down an old house. In the attic, hidden underneath the insulation, I found a glass piggy bank of old pennies. I also found a rare old magazine and a few other minor treasures. Treasure is not always things of obvious value, though. Hidden in the walls of that house was a treasure that at the time never occurred to me: copper tubing. I later discovered that the water lines we paid to have hauled away were sold as valuable scrap by the junk man. It made me wonder what else could be “treasure,” and where else I might find it. New Ideas On Hidden Treasure Hidden in a warehouse in the small town where I used to live, was a mountain of old boxes. It was the leftover inventory of a wooden clock factory that had gone out of business. The owner of the clocks had let them sit there for at least ten years. Finally someone explained to him how he could sell them on Ebay, and he realized the treasure he was sitting on. An old Mayan Indian we met at a hot spring in Arizona showed us how to find arrowheads and metates (used for grinding corn or mesquite beans) in the desert. They’re hundreds of years old. He sold one of his metates for $200 during a yard sale, but this may be illegal now. Check with authorities on this one. I have hidden money several times in my life. Many people do. What happens when people die unexpectedly? The money and valuables they hid remain where they are until discovered. There is an estimated several billion dollars in hidden currency alone in this country, and who knows how much in silver, gold, jewelry and other things. Here are some of the places people have discovered these hidden treasures. – Under sinks (money). – Hidden inside the pages of books (bills). – Buried in crawl-spaces (all sorts of treasure). – Above ceiling tiles. – Buried under the edges of cement patios. – In walls behind outlet plates. – In pump houses. – Under floors in sheds. – In old heating oil tanks (coins). – Under rocks in highway rest areas. That last one is a favorite hiding place for drug dealers and other criminals who need to hide cash fast. If they never get out of prison, or die, the money waits for a treasure hunter to find it. Sometimes you just have to look to find hidden treasure. Steve Gillman has been hunting down obscure knowledge and useful secrets for years. Dead End Job: You Have A Dead End Job Or A Bad Manager?

By Carl Mueller Do you have a dead end job? Having a dead end job can cause problems not only in your work life but in your personal life as well. If you get bored at work and aren’t sure where to turn it can start having a negative impact on your ability to do your work and can extend into your private life if your unhappiness follows you out the door at night Having said that, is there really such thing as a dead end job, or is it something else? Is it your employer that is the problem? More specifically, is it your boss? I’m assuming of course that you are in the “right job” and that you are not in an ill-suited position that does not fit your skills and interests. In this case, any similar job with another company might appear to also be a dead end job if you’re in the wrong industry, wrong field, wrong profession, etc! So what if the problem is not the job or the company but your manager? I’ve worked for small companies with less than 10 staff right up to very large corporations of over 8,000 staff. The one thing I’ve found is that in each case, it was my manager who determined how I felt about the company and about my job in general. If I liked the company I worked for, it was largely because of the direct interaction I had with my manager. If I liked the job, it was because I liked working for my manager and felt that they tried to make my job as pleasant as possible. Sure, the company higher ups (senior management) made the policies and so forth but it was generally my manager who had the most impact on whether or not I liked the job and whether I figured the position I held was a dead end job or not. With a good manager, I’d expect that I’d be able to approach them to discuss my desire to take on new work or additional responsibilities that might help me stop looking at my job as being a dead end one. A good manager would also help me with my career progression within the company where possible. Obviously the larger the company the more upward mobility you might have but I think a good manager can go a long way to preventing you from feeling like you have a dead end job. Some people are simply not good managers of people and their lack of skills in this area can negatively impact how you feel about your job and how you perform it. It can also cause you to make sweeping statements about your company or industry that may or may not be true, simply because of your interaction with your manager. Applique Tutorial for Machine Embroidery

By Deb Schneider Machine embroidered appliques are not only fun and easy, they also allow you to really get creative by using up any stray pieces of fabric you’ve kept around. No leftover fabric? Then you can have even more fun by grabbing your scissors and cutting up those clothes you still have but haven’t worn in years. Use appliques to embellish an inexpensive gift or to create something unique for yourself very quickly. Try it yourself and see how much fun it is. Here’s how: Of course, the first thing to do is load your applique design into your embroidery machine. Next hoop the material your finished design will be on. Be sure to stabilize it just as you would for any kind of machine embroidery. When you push the ‘Start’ button the outline of the applique stitches first. Because it’s going to be covered later you can use any thread color you want but it’s a good habit to select a thread color close to the fabric color. Once the outline is complete your machine will stop. Place a piece of your applique fabric over the outline. Make it large enough to adequately cover the outline but not so large as to be cumbersome. You can safely remove the hoop from your machine if you want to position your fabric but don’t unhoop! You’ll need to hold the fabric in place over the outline so it doesn’t pucker or bunch up on you. You can try using double-stick tape but usually it’s just as easy to hold it down. Watch your fingers! Now the tacking stitch will sew, tacking the applique fabric down. Then remove the hoop from the machine but once again, don’t unhoop yet! Cut away the excess applique fabric from around the tacking stitch. Get close to the tacking stitches but take your time and try not to cut too many of them. After most of the fabric is cut away it’s easy to trim off the stray pieces. Put the hoop back in the machine and push the button one more time. Your machine will now run another tacking stitch around the pattern. It’s usually a V stitch or an E stitch and is like a double check in case you cut a stitch or two while trimming your fabric. When the second tacking stitch is complete your machine will apply the final outline stitch, usually a satin stitch, putting the finishing touch on your applique. You’re done already! Now unhoop it, admire your creativity, and do another one using a different fabric and create something entirely different. See how darned additive machine embroidered appliques are? Drafting a Will

By Mansi Aggarwal As one progresses to the threshold of old age, worries and anxieties seem to grip more tightly. Not a second goes when the thought of ones family especially children take a leave. The very thought of what will happen next clutches the person and this makes his present life a bundle of misery. However, there is a way out to all these tensions and to bathe in perfect bliss, to draft or make your Will. Often the thought of making a will seems perturbing to people. They think that they are and will be present to settle all the monetary and other issues. But, the fact is that life is no ones best friend. It can betray anyone at any time; it is too precarious to be trusted upon. So, one should avoid taking risks and plan a Will at the right time. There are several merits to making a will- Allows you to follow your choicewhatever you have accumulated throughout your life should not at the end be at the discretion of others. You should govern the decision that who will what and how much, after all it is your money and property that you propose to be divided amongst your beneficiaries. Good Bye disputesMoney makes the Mare goit is right that the glimmer of wealth can make anybody blind. Most often the unplanned assets are a source of argument amongst the family members for everyone claims to maximum share of it. But if the allocation is pre decided through a Will, there is no scope for all these uninvited and execrated quarrels. The Veiled reaches the Safe Handsthere are certain secret riches or assets that people do not disclose even to their nearest ones during their lifetime. This can be due to many personal reasons. However, you cannot be a guard to these clandestine possessions always. So, through a will it is better to assign them to your closest ones so that they can enjoy the fruits of your prudence and sweat. Can replace tears with smilesa properly formulated Will that takes care of all your near and dear ones, is certainly a delight to them. They revere and miss you all the more for you decided to fulfill their priorities and wishes even in your absence . Last but not the least, Wills are not just meant to benefit your survivors after your death but they can take care of your present life also like the Living Will that is a great help in case of any accident or unforeseen trouble. The Other Key Points Any 18 year old or above can draft a Will. But Wills are actually meaningful in case of adults from 30 to 35 onwards. There are different types of Wills and so separate ways to draft them. Before formulating a Will, you should know your desires and requirements. i) Holographic Wills- a legal document handwritten by the Testator and also signed in their hand this Will is largely meant in case of intricate family situation and huge assets. ii) Legal Will- is that document which is signed by two witnesses and is prepared by a lawyer according to the needs of the testator. iii) Living Wills-those that give you the opportunity to the kind of medical care and assistance in case of crisis like accident. iv) Self Proved Will- has certain terms and conditions forwarded by the State. This Will need not be handwritten but requires the signature of the testator along with the witnesses. v) Ethical Wills- not a legal Will but a personal assessment of ones values, beliefs etc. among several other things. vi) Living Trusts These different Wills have respective ways to formulate them and other requirements like choosing an executor, witness, attorneys etc. once you make up your mind for the kind of Will you are looking forward depending on your interest and wishes, it is better to consult any an attorney to know its details. Draft a Will only when you are acquainted with all the particulars of it. Take some time to think about the beneficiaries, executor and the assets you want to be included etc. Never rush into things. Remember your carefulness is a means to your happiness. Mansi aggarwal writes about drafting a will. Learn more at http://www.draftyourwill.com . If Money Matters

By Johanna Docena True enough, a wedding is the most difficult event to plan and prepare for. And it gets even more challenging if the budget is tight. But don’t fret, we have come up with some tips to help you stay on track money-wise. 1. Limit your invites to the most important people in your life. Less guests less expenses. 2. The venue eats up a huge percentage of the budget so be wise and practical when selecting your venue. If possible, have both the ceremony and the reception in one place to minimize your cost. 3. Resist the urge to pick foods that are costly i.e. lobsters, steaks. You can still impress your guests with less expensive food. 4. Keep your invitation simple. If you have the time or extra helping hands, you may even want to consider making the invitation yourself. You can get wedding invitation kits from wedding supply stores or even your local craft store. 5. When decorating the venue, keep the use of flowers to a minimum. They are costly. Use candles (they go a long way when it comes to giving life to a venue), tulles and ribbons as substitutes. 6. While it is nice to be entertained by a live band, recorded music will do just fine. 7. Forget about hiring an emcee. Ask a family member or a friend to emcee instead. 8. Ask yourself if you really want your wedding on a film. Will you spend some time after the wedding to watch it? Or will the video end up in your grandmother’s chest in the attic? 9. Opt for a less extravagant cake. Get a 2-tiered cake instead of a 4- or 3-tiered cake. Another option is mini cakes arranged in a layered cake rack. 10. Limit the champagne to the toast. Instead of wine, serve less expensive drinks. 11. Forget about hiring a wedding planner. You can still get the job done with the help of family members and friends. 12. Instead of hiring a limousine, look for alternative means of transport i.e. a friend’s Bentley, your fathers Mercedes. 13. Always haggle for a lower price with the vendors. Since they expect some negotiations to happen, they would most often give a quote that is higher than what they are willing to accept. Drink Coasters & Place Mats – Real Grass Roots Marketing

By Jay Dee A great way to get your name around town is to ask a few bar and restaurant owners if they would use your placemats or drink coasters if you supplied them for free. Free placemats and coasters are not a tough sell and think about the number of people that would read your placemat or notice a well designed coaster, if you were to make a deal with a restaurant or two. For the placemat, just an advertisement could be unappealing to the restaurant owner. So, do a list of fun local facts or some clean jokes and make yourself the sponsor. For coasters, some great artwork is all that’s needed. It can usually be a blatant ad as long as it looks good. Paper placemats and coasters are inexpensive and you will usually be able to get quite a large quantity produced without a large outlay of cash. You can spend a few afternoons meeting with restaurant and bar owners and your campaign is on its way. With the quantity of placemats and/or coasters you can produce inexpensively, this campaign should have a life of six months to a year or more. Its a great return on investment for your advertising dollar and a great way to get your name around town. Why R.I.C.E.?

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Louise_Roach] Louise Roach What is R.I.C.E. and why do you need it? One of the most recommended icing techniques for reducing inflammation and treating minor injuries is R.I.C.E., an acronym for rest, ice, compression and elevation. It is best used for pulled muscles, sprained ligaments, soft tissue injury, and joint aches. Applying R.I.C.E. treatments will decrease pain, inflammation, muscle spasms, swelling and tissue damage. It achieves this by reducing blood flow from local vessels near the injury and decreasing fluid hemorrhaging as a result of cell damage. To administer R.I.C.E. use the following guidelines suggested by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons: Rest: Stop using the injured body part immediately. If you feel pain when you move, this is your body sending a signal to decrease mobility of the injured area. Ice: Apply an ice pack to the injured area, using a towel or cover to protect your skin from frostbite. The more conforming the ice pack the better, in order for the injury to receive maximum exposure to the treatment. Compression: Use a pressure bandage or wrap over the ice pack to help reduce swelling. Never tighten the bandage or wrap to the point of cutting off blood flow. You should not feel pain or a tingly sensation while using compression. Elevation: Raise or prop up the injured area so that it rests above the level of your heart. How long should ice be applied while practicing R.I.C.E. for it to be effective? There are four levels of cold felt by the skin: coldness; a prickly or burning sensation; a feeling of aching pain; and finally a lack of sensation or numbness. When the area feels numb, icing should be discontinued. The skin should return to normal body temperature before icing again. Usually numbness can be achieved in 10 to 20 minutes. Never apply ice for more than 30 minutes at a time or tissue damage may occur. It is generally recommended to practice R.I.C.E. at intervals of 4 to 6 hours for up to 48 hours after an injury. Heat treatments are appropriate for some injuries, but should only be considered after inflammation has receded, approximately 72 hours after an injury. If the body part does not respond to R.I.C.E. therapy within 48 hours, it would be wise to consult your health care provider in the event a serious injury has occurred such as internal bleeding or a broken bone. For minor injuries, use R.I.C.E. instead of plain ice! This information is not intended as a substitute for professional medical treatment or consultation. Always consult with your physician in the event of a serious injury. About The Author Louise Roach is the editor of an on-line health and fitness newsletter. Take Urgent Finance Through Bridging Loans

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=James_Taylor]James Taylor In these times of heightened activities of buying or selling properties, loan has become a vital financial instrument for borrowers of all types. You have to buy a property the moment you find it as otherwise others will grab it. But you do not have enough finance at hand and the old property will take time to sell. In such crises bridging loans provide you necessary finance. You can pay for the new property immediately after taking bridging loans and pay off the loan when you sell the old property. You can utilize bridging loans in acquiring all types of properties such as retail shops, developments sites, commercial or semi commercial properties auction properties etc. Bridging loans are essentially secured loans. Borrowers have to offer their old property that they want to sell, as collateral to the lender. Borrowers can take from 25000 to a few million pounds under bridging loans. In case the borrower needs greater amount then the lender will evaluate equity in the collateral. Lenders will offer you a loan of 65 percent of the equity. Bridging loans are availed normally for a shorter period few months to a year till the borrower sells old property. One main attraction of bridging loans is that borrowers pay only the interest till they sell the old property. The principal amount is paid when the borrower finally gets the money from selling old property. Because the loan is availed for a very short period, loan providers charge a high interest rate on bridging loans. The borrowers, however, do not feel the burden much on interest rate as their preference is to buy new property. Even if you are going through bad credit phase, you can buy properties through availing bridging loans. A borrower is labeled as having bad credit when there are cases of payment default or County Court Judgments against them. But as bridging loans are essentially secured loans, bad credit does not become a hurdle in availing loan. One can apply online for bridging loans and when numerous lenders offer their loan packages, the borrower should compare them and choose the suitable one. Take especial care to return the loan in time as your interest outgo may unnecessarily increase. Make sure that you take the loan for a shorter possible duration to escape the burden of debt. Also see that principal amount is cleared by the due time so that the lender does not take repossession route and you save your property.
